Pruning that helps the tree.
Anyone with a chainsaw can hack limbs off. Pruning properly means knowing which cuts a tree can heal, how much canopy it can lose in one go and where the branch collar sits. Prune wrong and you get dieback, decay and a tree that's more dangerous in five years than it is today.
We prune to AS 4373, the Australian Standard for the pruning of amenity trees, which is also what council expects for protected vegetation. We remove dead or crossing branches, improve light, protect structures and encourage long term growth.

What we prune for
- Deadwooding: removing dead and dying limbs before they drop.
- Weight reduction: lightening heavy, over extended limbs over roofs, driveways and play areas.
- Canopy lifting: raising the lower canopy for clearance over paths, sheds and lawns.
- Clearance pruning: keeping trees off the house, gutters, pool and service lines.
- Shaping and thinning: letting light through while keeping the tree's natural form.
Little and often beats big and rare.
Big established trees do best with a light prune every few years rather than a heavy one every decade. Late winter and early spring are usually ideal for most species, and we can set up a maintenance schedule so your trees stay ahead of storm season.
